Gathering information about traveling before you depart is strongly recommended. We will guide you throughout the entire process, but we encourage you to also educate yourself with these links and additional resources.<\/p>\n<h2>Knowledge is Power<\/h2>\n<p>Together with your advisors, you will choose from study-abroad and faculty-led trips that meet your academic and personal goals. Once you decide on a trip, you&#8217;ll want to gather as much information as possible. We encourage you to explore these resources before you explore the world.<\/p>\n<h3>General Information<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>For more than 50 years, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.letsgo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Let\u2019s Go<\/a> has created one of the world\u2019s favorite student travel content series, written entirely for students by students.<\/li>\n<li>For basic travel information about most countries, visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lonelyplanet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lonely Planet\u2019s website<\/a>. This site is geared more for tourists than students, but you can learn about the country you plan to visit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Health and Safety<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Travel Warnings. <\/strong>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.state.gov\/travel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">U.S. State Department website<\/a> provides extensive information for people living abroad as well as travel warnings.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We strongly encourage you to consult the <a href=\"http:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/passports\/en\/alertswarnings.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">State Department Travel Warnings<\/a> before and during your trip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Safety and Security. <\/strong>The State Department\u2019s Office of American Citizens Services and Crisis Management (ACS) administer the Consular Information Program to inform the public of conditions abroad that may affect safety and security.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Find <a href=\"http:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/passports\/en\/alertswarnings.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">country-specific information, travel alerts, and travel warnings<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Learn about driving in another country through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asirt.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Association of Safe International Road Travel<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Health. <\/strong>Your health is as important as your safety, inquire about vaccinations and medications with your primary care doctors and check the <a href=\"http:\/\/wwwnc.cdc.gov\/travel\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Centers for Disease Control Travel website<\/a> for additional information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Currency Conversion.<\/strong> Find out how far your money will take you with this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oanda.com\/currency\/converter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">currency converter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Cross-Cultural Experiences<\/h2>\n<p>Many cross-cultural opportunities exist within the city of Nashua, NH and throughout New England. These experiences are gateways to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rivier.edu\/academics\/global-engagement\/faculty-led-trips\/\">faculty-led trips<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rivier.edu\/academics\/global-engagement\/study-abroad\/\">study abroad<\/a> experiences. Local immersion experiences are always being developed and you are encouraged to explore them. Most cross-cultural experiences are one to three days in duration and combine learning and service components.
