  {"id":2807,"date":"2026-06-09T15:51:42","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T19:51:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rivier.edu\/academics\/?page_id=2807"},"modified":"2026-06-09T16:14:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T20:14:00","slug":"john-glossner","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.rivier.edu\/academics\/department\/computer-science\/faculty\/john-glossner\/","title":{"rendered":"John Glossner, Ph.D."},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Background<\/h2>\n<p>Dr. John Glossner is CEO of the Wireless Innovation Forum where he leads the technical Standards Development Organization with a focus on Spectrum Sharing, Software Defined Systems, and Mission Critical Communications.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to WInnForum, he was the Director of Computer Science Programs at °µÍø³Ô¹Ï. He still teaches as an adjunct graduate-level Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, and Computer Security.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to Rivier, he was a Professor and Director of the Computer Architecture, Heterogeneous Computing, and AI Lab at the University of Science and Technology in Beijing (USTB), where he supervised Ph.D. students. Prior to USTB, he was the Chair of Computer Science at Daniel Webster College where he taught undergraduate students. In addition to faculty positions, he has held multiple industry positions at IBM Microelectronics, IBM Research, and Bell Labs.<\/p>\n<p>In 2001, he co-founded Sandbridge Technologies which raised $70M in venture funding. Before being acquired, the World Economic Forum recognized the company for developing world-changing DSP technology widely used in today\u2019s commercial cell phones.<\/p>\n<p>After Sandbridge, he became CTO of China-based Huaxia General Processor Technologies (hxGPT) and CEO of its U.S.-based subsidiary Optimum Semiconductor Technologies Inc. (OST), where he led embedded development of heterogeneous processor designs including variable length vector processors and domain-specific AI accelerators.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Glossner has also served voluntarily as President of both the Heterogeneous System Architecture Foundation (HSAF) and the Wireless Innovation Forum.<\/p>\n<p>He has more than 120 publications and 40 issued patents.<\/p>\n<h2>Education<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Ph.D. Electrical Engineering, Delft University of Technology<\/li>\n<li>Preliminary Ph.D. Studies in Computer Science, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill<\/li>\n<li>M.S.
